Amex is running three transfer bonuses for US Membership Rewards members. All three were confirmed on Amex's transfer page on October 25, 2026.
| Partner | Bonus | 1,000 Amex points become | Normally | Ends |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Aeromexico Rewards | +20% | 1,920 points | 1,600 | Oct 30, 2026 |
| Air France-KLM Flying Blue | +25% | 1,250 miles | 1,000 | Oct 31, 2026 |
| Marriott Bonvoy | +35% | 1,350 points | 1,000 | Dec 10, 2026 |
Amex lists an estimated transfer time of 48 hours for all three. With Aeromexico's bonus ending October 30 and Flying Blue's on October 31, start any transfer you plan for those two early enough to finish inside the window.
Amex's page gives end dates but no end times. Some other sites list Aeromexico as ending October 31; Amex's own page says October 30, and that's the date used here. Because the time isn't stated, don't count on the final hours of the last day: transfer before it if you can.
The break-even number for each bonus
A bonus is worth using only if the points you receive are worth more than what you'd get from a fixed-value redemption instead. The break-even value per partner unit is:
Break-even (cents per unit) = your fallback value per Amex point ÷ partner units per Amex point
Using 1 cent per point as the fallback, which is what flights booked through Amex Travel are worth on the personal Platinum Card per The Points Guy's August 2026 guide:
- Aeromexico: 1.0 ÷ 1.92 = 0.52 cents per Aeromexico Rewards point
- Flying Blue: 1.0 ÷ 1.25 = 0.80 cents per mile
- Marriott: 1.0 ÷ 1.35 = 0.74 cents per Bonvoy point
If the award you're looking at is worth more than that per unit, the transfer beats the fallback. If it's worth less, it doesn't, and the bonus doesn't change that.
Break-even under two published valuations
A fixed redemption isn't the only yardstick. Many people value Membership Rewards points at what they typically get from transfers, and the two most-cited estimates disagree. These are opinions, not facts:
- The Points Guy values an Amex point at 2.0 cents (valuations published October 1, 2026).
- Frequent Miler's Reasonable Redemption Values put it at 1.5 cents (updated October 8, 2026).
Applying the same formula with each:
| Bonus | Partner units per Amex point | Break-even at 2.0¢ (TPG) | Break-even at 1.5¢ (FM) | TPG's value for the partner currency | FM's value |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Air France-KLM Flying Blue +25% | 1.25 | 1.60¢ | 1.20¢ | 1.40¢ | 1.30¢ |
| Marriott Bonvoy +35% | 1.35 | 1.48¢ | 1.11¢ | 0.75¢ | 0.73¢ |
| Aeromexico Rewards +20% | 1.92 | 1.04¢ | 0.78¢ | 0.80¢ | not published |
The arithmetic: 2.0 ÷ 1.25 = 1.60 and 1.5 ÷ 1.25 = 1.20; 2.0 ÷ 1.35 = 1.48 and 1.5 ÷ 1.35 = 1.11; 2.0 ÷ 1.92 = 1.04 and 1.5 ÷ 1.92 = 0.78.
What it says:
- Flying Blue depends on whose numbers you use. By The Points Guy's figures the transfer loses value: a Flying Blue mile at 1.40¢ is below the 1.60¢ break-even. By Frequent Miler's it gains: 1.30¢ is above 1.20¢. Price the actual award you want before deciding.
- Marriott fails under both. Both publications value a Bonvoy point well below either break-even. The bonus only wins against a low fallback, such as the 0.7-cent prepaid-hotel rate in the example below.
- Aeromexico fails under The Points Guy's numbers (0.80¢ against a 1.04¢ break-even). Frequent Miler publishes no Aeromexico value, so there's no like-for-like second opinion.
To run the same check with your own value for an Amex point, use the calculator.
Checking a Marriott stay against the bonus
Hotels are where the comparison is easiest to get wrong, because Amex also lets you pay for prepaid hotels through Amex Travel at about 0.7 cents per point (same source).
Take a hotel night that costs $280 in cash or 40,000 Bonvoy points. These numbers are illustrative.
- Booked through Amex Travel at 0.7 cents per point: 280 ÷ 0.007 = 40,000 Amex points.
- Booked as a Marriott award with the 35% bonus: 40,000 Bonvoy points ÷ 1.35 = 29,630 Amex points, which rounds up to 30,000 if your transfer has to be in 1,000-point steps.
In this case the transfer saves about 10,000 Amex points on the same night, even though the night is only worth 0.70 cents per Bonvoy point, below the 0.74-cent break-even against flights. The right comparison depends on what you'd actually do with the points otherwise. Run it against your real alternative, not a general valuation.
Before you transfer
- Confirm the award is available at the price you expect on the partner's site first. Transfers can't be reversed.
- Check the minimum and increment on the partner's panel in your Amex account.
- Move only what the booking needs.
The bonus tracker marks each of these as ended on its last day, and the Amex partner table shows the boosted ratio while each bonus runs.
